Health Care

According to the Sovereign Investment Authority of Nigeria 30,000 Nigerians spend over $1 billion annually on medical tourism. This is more than the initial amount set by Oman to build a world-class healthcare city. The quality of most healthcare institutions in Southeast Nigeria is in such a deplorable state. Quality and affordable healthcare is critical to sustainable development and progress because it is human capital that drives the other factors of production. Health infrastructure (hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceuticals, health insurance organizations and other ancillaries) are essential for the efficient functioning of a healthcare system and consequently, a productive and prosperous nation.

SEREDEC seeks to transform the Southeast region into a hub for global healthcare tourism through a viable healthcare city to be established in Enugu. The aim is to meet the demand for high-quality, patient-centered healthcare, and also to attract tourists to the region for medical services and treatments. Through strategic partnerships, the healthcare city will provides a wide range of services in healthcare, medical education and research, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, wellness and allied support.
